Over 100 right-wing organizations have combined forces to create a step-by-step plan to vastly increase the powers of the presidency upon the election of a conservative president, whether it’s Trump (who has embraced the plan) or someone else. The coalition has released a 900-page blueprint for authoritarian rule which they call “Project 2025”. The Trump campaign has published the blueprint on its website.

According to the New York Times, Project 2025 aims “to alter the balance of power by increasing the president’s authority over every part of the federal government that now operates, by either law or tradition, with any measure of independence from political interference by the White House.” Project 2025 also details steps to purge the civil service of anyone who does not embrace its authoritarian vision, whether they are clerks, spies, or generals.

The mere fact that so many organizations have come together on Project 2025 is an indication of just how serious and widespread this authoritarian movement is. For this special webinar, PPJC Director Paul George will take a deep dive into the details of Project 2025 so that as activists we will be well-informed to resist this direct assault on our democracy.

Paul George has been Director of Peninsula Peace and Justice Center for 34 years. He has been a grassroots activist virtually his entire adult life, beginning when he was a 16-year old organizer and activist against the Vietnam War.
