What? Democracy in Cuba?!?

Guest Speaker
Arnold August
Author, Democracy in Cuba
Thanks to anti-Cuba propaganda, most Americans still don't realize that Cuba holds regular elections at all levels of government -- local through national. With U.S. interest in meddling in Cuba at an all-time high because of Fidel Castro's departure from power, it is especially important that activists in particular know more about Cuba's democratic systems.
Our speaker, Arnold August, is a Canadian researcher, journalist, and activist. His first book, Democracy in Cuba, was published in 1999. He is currently working on a new book, Cuba: Participatory Democracy and Elections in the 21st Century, scheduled for publication next year.
